Sailboat or catamaran rental without skipper in Naples
Do you have a nautical license with a sailing extension, and this year are you organizing yourself with your family or friends for a sailing holiday in Naples, to discover its islands and the magnificent Amalfi coast? You are in the right place!
Campania is a popular destination for sailing enthusiasts. Renting a sailboat without a skipper means taking command of the boat and being the Captain for the entire duration of the holiday. In order to rent a bareboat sailboat or catamaran, you must have a boat license with extension to sailing.
Where can you rent a boat?
In Campania there are 4 main bases where you can rent a sailboat or a catamaran without a skipper:
- Naples
- Marina of Stabiae
- Procida
- Salerno
Depending on the port from which you prefer to rent your boat, you can choose a different itinerary. Although the gulf of Naples, with its islands and the Amalfi coast area is all really close, it should be remembered that the sailboat cannot move quickly from one bay to another. This is why, in any case, the itinerary will have to be organized to better enjoy the favorite places in that week.
Itinerary ideas in brief
The ports of Naples and Procida overlook the Gulf of Naples. The advice is to optimize the itinerary based on the port of departure, to see and anchor in as many bays as possible. Starting from Naples or Procida, the itinerary to the north can include the Phlegrean Islands and the Pontine Islands. if instead we want to go south, it will be possible to make an itinerary between the Phlegrean islands and Capri, or directly towards Capri and the Amalfi Coast.
Starting from Marina di Stabia, the Pontine islands will be too far away. So the best itinerary may be to skirt the Sorrento coast, to head towards Capri, and from there then make a choice whether to continue towards the Phlegrean islands of Ischia and Procida or towards the Amalfi coast. Longer but still feasible to make an itinerary with the first stop in Procida, and then continue towards Ischia, Capri and Positano.
If you rent the boat from Salerno, the Cilento coast also becomes an option. Another solution is to skirt the Amalfi coast, Capri, and from there decide whether to continue towards the Gulf of Naples or towards one of the Flegrean islands.
In conclusion, from whichever port you decide to leave, you will be spoiled for choice to enjoy a fantastic experience in one of the most beautiful areas of the Mediterranean aboard a fantastic sailboat or catamaran!
